I’m scared

Impressively the Prime Minister’s office has its own Twitter feed – 10 Downing Street.

Now, my fifteen regular readers will know I’m no great fan of our current government, but even so, it’s at least nice to see they’re at least engaging with social media sites. And I was also curious how they’d use it. And I should probably get a bit more politically aware. So I added them.

Now, after a couple of days, they’ve added me back. So, yes, that’s a good part of the conversation and very Web 2.0 and probably a good thing in some respects. And, yes, it’ll probably help whoever’s running the feed to refine strategy, and possibly, god forbid, get our politicians closer to Joe Voter.

But the idea that the Prime Minister’s office are now following my every tweet is… well… a little disturbing.

Not that they’ll glean much from me, other than I often get colds, have ongoing battles with my willpower and the gym, and like non-league football. But even so…
