Andrew Collins on Myspace

I quite liked this:

“That said, deep down, part of me suspects we’re all going to hell, and convincing ourselves that random people are our “friends” when they are merely collecting the equivalent of football stickers, just like we are, is not only insane, it’s detrimental to the national conversation and to the useful evolution of the species.”

Myspace/Facebook friendsĀ as football stickers. What a great analogy. It does beg the question: which of your friends is the equivalent of the sticker of St. Mirren’s Alan Reid that you desperately need to compete your collection?

I do have a long Facebook post in my head, but said head is incredibly fuzzy, I’m shivering even though the heating is on, my keyboard looks like a tempting pillow, and there is NO TEA IN THE OFFICE. That, more than anything else, is especially traumatic.

UPDATE: There is now tea in the office. Never has the sight of a woman opening a packet of PG Tips filled my heart with so much joy.
